Working With the Media

Insights from a Corporate Practitioner and the Media

Masraff's, 1753 Post Oak Blvd. Houston, TX 77056

This panel discussion consisting of Richard Stubbe, Houston Bureau Chief for Bloomberg News; Brad Olson, National Energy Correspondent with The Wall Street Journal; and Rick Goins, a former corporate media relations director will be moderated by Ray Thompson, Principal at WPNT Communications.

Our luncheon discussion will provide IROs with a deeper understanding of today’s editorial process, and the primary drivers for financial journalists and corporate media relations professionals. We'll explore how IROs can work with the media to convey proper corporate strategy messaging. We'll seek to better understand what reporters are really looking for. We'll also discuss the best strategy dealing with media requests and what has changed in recent years.

Cancellations will be accepted no later than NOON, Friday, April 14. To cancel a reservation, please e-mail Ann Tanabe at ann.tanabe@biohouston.org or call 713-979-9105. PayPal requires NIRI-Houston to cut manual checks for refunds. NO SHOWS WILL BE BILLED

Insights from a Sr. IRO: Non-Deal Roadshows Without the Sell-side

Why should you consider doing NDRS without the sell-side?

Brennan's, 3300 Smith Street Houston, TX 77006

Effective use of non-deal roadshows (NDRs) can benefit your investor relations program by allowing direct access to key decision makers in your investor base. NDRs also allow more one-on-one time between firms and members of the management team. However, do your sell-side covering analysts seem to cycle through the same investor base? Does the cost of a NDR specialist seem out of reach or has a prior use not proven worth the investment?

Perhaps you'd like to coordinate your own NDR and select your target cities and investors yourself. What metrics should you develop to determine NDR success? How do you prioritize geographies? How do you develop your must visit list, a new prospect list or even begin to attempt to schedule?

Join us and Cedric Burgher, Senior Vice President Investor and Public Relations at EOG Resources, as we discuss organizing your own NDRs and the process EOG utilizes in coordinating their own NDRs.

Cancellations will be accepted no later than NOON, Friday, Mar. 17, 2017. To cancel a reservation, please e-mail Ann Tanabe at ann.tanabe@biohouston.org or call 713-979-9105. PayPal requires NIRI-Houston to cut manual checks for refunds. NO SHOWS WILL BE BILLED
