Stephen D. Hughes is staff director, Investor Relations for FedEx Corporation. He has primary responsibility for institutional investors in the western United States and the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, Hughes oversees the companys quarterly earnings releases, annual proxy distribution and Investor Relations Web site. He has been a member of the FedEx Investor Relations team since 1995.
Hughes joined FedEx in 1982 as a part-time package handler in operations, and later worked as a financial analyst supporting the Human Resources and Finance divisions, and as a senior financial analyst overseeing the companys business planning process.
In 2010, he was named the Best IR Professional in the Airfreight & Surface Transportation industry by buy-side analysts and portfolio managers, according to a survey by Institutional Investor Magazine. He ranked second in the same survey in 2011.
A native of Memphis, Hughes earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Memphis. He is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute.
